I did my master's at Columbia in socio-cultural anthropology, and the libraries there are a true godsend. Having studied as an undergrad in a British university, it was like a 100x upgrade when I went to Columbia, in terms of resources. The Butler and Lehman libraries were amazingly well-stocked, and I could find any book I wanted even if it was not held by the Columbia Libraries thanks to their efficient Inter-Library Loan system which allowed me access to other Ivy League colleges' libraries as well.

In short, it was money well spent.
